having an effect on your life.
Reiki – the philosophy
Reiki, in common with many other eastern-based philosophies
or medicine, considers the human body (and indeed all other
“matter”) as an energy form. Dis-ease is seen as
blockages to the flow of energy through the body, and healing
to be the removal of such blockages and the re-balancing of
energy within the form.
Reiki is a Japanese word, Rei meaning “universal”
and ki meaning “life- force energy”.
The teaching is that this energy or vibration abounds in the
universe. Practitioners of reiki learn to tune into this universal
energy and to channel it to the recipient. This energy is an
intelligent energy and flows wherever it is needed for healing
to occur. The practioner does not direct the energy but merely
acts as a facilitator for the process. The recipient has to
be open to the energy in order to receive the benefit but does
not require any faith or particular beliefs for the process
to have effect.
Dis-ease is seen to manifest itself at the energy level before
the physical level and thus regular treatment or self-treatments
can often prevent illness from occurring. If you are a suffer
of a chronic stress related illness for example, you can expect
to get fewer flair –ups if you learn Reiki for yourself
(for self healing) or you receive regular therapy from a qualified
Reiki Practitioner.

Indian head massage
Traditionally Indian head massage has always been an important feature of Indian family life. It is a treatment that has evolved from traditional techniques that have been practiced in India as part of a family ritual for thousands of years.
In Indian traditions, the belief is that massage preserves the body’s life force and energy, and is the most powerful way of relaxing and rejuvenating the body.
Indian head massage was originonally designed for use on the head; today it is no longer confined to the head area, and has been westernised to include other parts of the body vulnerable to stress, such as the shoulder, upper arms and neck. |
